So… Here’s the Backstory
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched.”(Isaiah 43:2)
THE CRAVE COACH was created for people who want a better quality of life (like me) — not perfection, just progress. My hope is to offer a fresh perspective on something so many of us quietly struggle with: habits, anxiety, cravings, and the ways we try to cope when life feels hard.
Addiction doesn’t always look dramatic. Often it starts subtly — unmanaged stress, emotional pain, or habits formed just trying to get through the day. We reach for comfort, avoid discomfort, and sometimes settle for quick relief instead of real healing. Left unexamined, those patterns can eventually create more pain than they solve.
I don’t pretend to know why hard things happen. But they do. We live in a complicated world where our choices — and sometimes the choices of others — leave lasting ripple effects. That reality shaped my story in ways I never expected.
My husband passed away at 32 from an addiction to prescription pain medication that began after a serious injury and multiple surgeries when he was nineteen. Despite every effort, he couldn’t find his way out of that struggle. Today, awareness and safeguards are stronger than they once were, and I pray those changes will act to protect those caught in the pain-management struggle.
My own struggle looked different. For more than a decade, I battled disordered eating — swinging between restriction, overeating, and everything in between. Recovery wasn’t quick or easy. It involved treatment, therapy, setbacks, persistence, and ultimately a deep reliance on faith. I did the work, but God met me in it — strengthening me where my own willpower fell short.
After losing my husband, I was left to raise our three young children alone for seventeen years. In the loneliness and stress of overwhelming responsibility I battled some old patterns, searching for comfort in nightly numbing with eating and drinking. Slowly but surely, I made my way back to a healthier rhythm through faith and practicing the very principles that freed me before. It was overwhelming at times, but I experienced God’s sustaining presence once again in ways I can only describe as grace in motion. Step by step, we moved forward.
Through it all, I’ve learned this: change isn’t guaranteed — but it is possible. And it is always worth pursuing.
That belief is why The CRAVE Coach exists.
Freedom is possible — but it usually starts with one small, brave step.
Not perfection.
Not overnight transformation.
Just the next right choice.
Be bold. Be brave. Be free.
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”(Philippians 4:13)
With you on the journey,
Dori
